2013 incoming: the goals

January 5, 2013

2013 has a lot to live up to. Last year I ran my first half marathon, worked my arse off to lay necessary groundwork for my dream career, sang at the Royal Albert Hall (and in the opening ceremony of the Paralympics), met some really cool people, went back to the US for a flying visit and moved into a sweet new flat. I also wasted a ton of time looking at pictures of Llama Del Ray, tweeting too much and blogging too little.

So naturally, this year I’m going to knit a hat. Or some socks. Or something – anything – that isn’t shaped like a long rectangle. I’m going to visit 3 places I’ve never been before and actually learn to not be afraid of ¬†kneading pastry (did you know choux pastry is the easiest thing to make ever? But really though) and ride my gorgeous skateboard far more than I did in 2012. I’m going to make a conscious effort to get better at photography and blog about it along the way…and drink better quality tea than I usually do.

It’s the small things. There are, of course, more things on my list…but these will do to start. Come on 2013: bring it!

I love this way of thinking. These are the things I am going to do, rather than not going to do. Small steps making them achievable. Very inspiring and positive!

Thanks Kelly :) I honestly think we give ourselves too much ‘stick’ and not enough ‘carrot’ when we make resolutions, which is probably why the majority are abandoned…I’d much rather think of it in a “I *can* do this” sort of way than an ”I shouldn’t do that” way…
